For serious Apple enthusiasts who need a lot of power, the MacBook Pro family continues to be the recommended laptop model. As a video editor, the state-of-the-art M3 Pro and M3 Max chips are indispensable. Naturally, a very tiny portion of consumers need this much electricity. For all others, the only laptop you should be thinking about at this time is the M3 MacBook Air. Clearly. Complete halt.
Apple’s M3 MacBook Air, which debuted in March 2024, offers enough power and exceptional performance for a fraction of the cost of a MacBook Pro. That is especially true right now, as the M3 MacBook Air is available for only $989. That is an all-time low price for this model, which is unexpected given that it was just released last month.
The M3 MacBook Air does not represent a significant advance over the previous-generation M2 model. Apple has admitted as much. In terms of power, here’s how it compares to the previous generation of devices, according to Apple:
According to Apple’s announcement from the previous year, the M2 MacBook Air is “up to 12x faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air.” Subsequently, Apple stated in a press release for the M3 MacBook Air that the new laptop is “up to 13x faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air.”
Needless to say, that is not a significant change. And for someone like me, who already has an M2 MacBook Air, the new M3 MacBook Air should not even be considered.
However, for anyone else using an older Apple laptop or wishing to make the conversion from Windows, the M3 MacBook Air is really the only
I wasn’t quite due for an upgrade because the earlier MacBook Pro I was using was still functional. But Apple’s new 15-inch MacBook Air was screaming my name, and I couldn’t resist any more. I purchased one while it was on sale for Black Friday, and I am astounded by how fast it is. I also enjoy the bigger, larger 15-inch display. My MacBook Pro had a 13-inch screen, so any additional space would be greatly appreciated.
The new M3 MacBook Air is available in both 13-inch and 15-inch sizes, and now is the ideal time to explore what all the hype is about. That’s because both versions are currently on sale at the lowest prices I’ve seen in a long time.
The M3 MacBook Air 15-inch is currently $1,199, down from $1,299. If you prefer the more compact M3 MacBook Air 13-inch, it’s on sale for $989, down from $1,099.
It’s one of Apple’s best-ever laptops. BGR’s in-depth MacBook Air 15-inch review contains everything you need to know about the larger version.
Apple’s new 15-inch MacBook Air is powered by an M3 processor. It’s the same processor used in Apple’s latest MacBook Pro computers, which were released last year.
The M3 variant that powers the standard 15-inch MacBook Air includes an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. It’s quick, powerful, and—perhaps most importantly—efficient. According to Apple, the 15-inch MacBook Air has a battery life of up to 18 hours on one charge. This means that many people will be able to go two days without having to recharge it.
Additional specifications include 8GB of unified RAM, 256GB or 512GB of SSD storage, and a 1080p FaceTime camera, with Touch ID. Then there’s the star of the show. A new 15.3-inch Liquid Retina Display with a resolution of 2880 x 1864 pixels with a camera notch on top.
Despite its greater size, Apple’s new 15-inch MacBook Air weighs just 3.3 pounds. That certainly makes it portable enough to deserve the “air” appellation.
With the M3 MacBook Air 13-inch costing $989 and the M3 MacBook Air 15-inch costing $1,199, both recently released Apple laptops are even more economical than when they were originally released. These, in my opinion, are incredible prices for Apple’s greatest-ever MacBook Air model.
If you’re looking for something more compact and don’t require Apple’s freshest and greatest, there’s another deal worth considering.
The M1 MacBook Air was among the first Mac computers to include an M-series chip. It’s still one of the greatest, and it’s on sale at a significant discount. The M3 model is currently a far better alternative for all of the reasons stated above. However, if you’re on a limited budget and can’t afford the M3 MacBook Air, the M1 version is an excellent alternative.
That means you’ll pay $699 instead of $999 if you buy an M1 MacBook Air right now from Walmart. It’s fast, light, and presently on sale for the lowest price ever. In fact, this is the lowest price ever offered for an Apple laptop.
You can’t go wrong with any option, so it’s a matter of money and power requirements. If all you want to do is browse the internet and watch movies, the less expensive M1 MacBook Air will suffice. At $699, you’ll save a significant amount of money compared to purchasing one of the newest M3 models.
However, if you intend to use your laptop for work, the M3 MacBook Air model may be a better choice. Aside from being faster and more powerful, you have the choice of a considerably larger display.
It may not appear that 2 inches makes much of a difference, but keep in mind that they are diagonal inches. The new model’s 15.3-inch display provides approximately 25% more screen real estate than the 13-inch MacBook Air. Needless to say, that is a significant upgrade.
